ROUND 2 RESULTS
Club stalwart Hilary Doulton’s 400th game was the undoubted highlight of a brilliant weekend for Casey Hockey Club.
Seven of the club’s eight weekend senior sides – including Hilary’s Metro B South side – won, while the men’s Metro C side had a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Melbourne Uni.
Hilary marked her milestone match in style, scoring the first goal of the game with a well-placed penalty stroke that kicked-started the 4-0 win over Mornington. Young gun Maddy Smit added her name to the goal sheet, as did fleet-footed Shaheen Sahib, while veteran striker Zena Rhyne did as she has done hundreds of times throughout her career.
The men’s Vic League 2 side made it back-to-back big wins, one-upping their round 1 victory with a dominant 7-1 win over Collegians. Bryan Young continued his stellar start to the season with another double hat-trick, giving him eight goals in two games. Fitness machine Craig Moore helped himself to a double, while drag flick king Matty Light added the other.
Evergreen Fiona Young showed there is plenty left in her legs, scoring both goals as the women’s firsts made the tough trek to Melton and came home with all three points in their first Vic League 2 game of the season.
Benny Knight backed up his Round 1 hat-trick with another double and is bashing down the door of firsts selection after the men’s Reserves’ 4-1 win over Collegians. Newcomer Mathews Thomas and Pete Jennings scored the other goals as the twos made it two from two.
Coach and Captain pairing Tina Horwood and Vanessa Dillon each scored goals in the Pennant F side’s win over Camberwell.
Steve Randall added forward polish to the men’s Metro B South side, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over OHA.
This coming weekend is a big one for the club, with four games back-to-back at home on Saturday and then three of the same on Sunday.
Canteen and bar will be open, come down and support across the two days for our big home jamboree.
